Hidden Flaws in Strategy....is your noggin' to blame?

It's that time of year again...a time to revisit strategic plans and budgets as 2006 looms around the corner.

A few recent articles have opened my eyes to corporate behaviors that can sway planning into one direction or another.  And believe it or not, it's not always the nutty team dynamics that come with this annual, collaborative effort.  More often, the human brain is to blame.

The McKinsey Quarterly published a fascinating article in their August 2005 Newsletter that gives insights as to what causes good Executives to take certain actions....and often back bad strategies.  For a good read in between your corporate planning sessions, check out Hidden Flaws in Strategy by Charles Roxburgh.  You're sure to be enlightened.

Do the descriptions sound all too familiar?  Not to worry.  Suggestions are also provided as far as steering clear or at least minimizing these dangers to which strategists and leaders can fall prey.  Happy planning.....
